I am very excited to say that I am officially college bound! This weekend I got into my first choice, at the moment, school. UW! The University of Washington, Seattle! Honestly, I believed that I would not get accepted. For the out-of-state testing statistic, I am in the lower 50th percentile. With that said, my GPA and extracurriculars, I believe, improved my application.
Many people talk about positive self-talk. For example, when going into a test, saying you are going to do well leads you to do better. I do the opposite. I like to speak into the world more of a negative view of how I will do. I think I do this so that the people who have expectations for me are not disappointed if I do poorly. (I usually do well on the things I say I think I will do poorly on. This was the same thing I did for UW. I had myself convinced that I would not get in.
I did buy a jacket for UW, but I have not confirmed my spot there. I still have a good handful of schools to hear back from, and my choice could change. I do not want to commit before knowing the whole picture. My parents also really want me to wait and see what happens with the UC’s.
So far, I have gotten into six schools.
- University of Oregon
- Colorado Boulder
- San Diego State University
- Indian University
- University of Washington
- Cal Poly
I have toured Oregon, and it was my number one choice up until UW came out. I posted a video on YouTube that you can watch about Oregon if you want.
I am so excited and can not wait for whatever is to come. I am ready for a new start, and I am ready to start the new chapter of my life.
